    Default reccomend a good knife

So, i've been needing a new pocket knife to use as an everyday, carry around in my pocket type deal. I definetly want the little thumb thing to open it, forgot what thats called. And I really don't want a serrated edge on the blade. I've never used a knife for anything that needed that, but theres been times when it annoyed me, so I don't really want it. Looking for a price of anywhere between like, 30-70 dollars, preferably in the $50 range. I would also like it to have a blade between 3 and 3.75". Any body have any reccomendations? My birthday is soon, and my mom keeps asking me what I want, so I decided that she is gonna buy me a knife. lol

This company sells every knife on the planet. Ask for free catalog, then you can look around to find what you want.

I have a Buck knife and love it! I've used it at camp all summer to cut various things...still very sharp! And they have a warranty.

I have the Buck zipper with the rubber handle. It is a great size knife with good steel and has the gut hook. You'll love it!!

Knifes are a personal choice, I collect mainly USA made knives and have quite a collect, the best blades for retaining sharpness are benchmade, I used 2 of these knives when I was deployed to Iraq, they maintained a blade for a year, I used these a lot. I just purchased a Buck knife for hunting, it is a fixed blade, rubber handle, gut hook it is called an Model 393CM Omni Hunter™ 12pt I paid $39 for it the steel is a 420HC, which is OK.

If you are looking for a nice knife to treasure, then buy a USA made knife, it makes me proud to by USA quality. Stainless steel blade even though they are carbon steel based, do not hold a blade as good as a carbon steel, a 440B or 440C blade is affordable these are both stainless steel but are probably the best stainless steel after CM154. a CM154 is a great blade, it a US steel. The best steel knives are D2 then M2. Thing to remember with carbon steel, they rust, so chromo is added reduce this from happening, if a knife has more then 13% chromo then it is stainless. There are many factors what makes great steel blades, from additives to heat treatment, it is a real science.

for what you are going to be paying a would recommend going to the Mall, check out the knife store, look at different knifes (don't by from the mall way to expensive).

I've always been a Buck-Knife guy. They are reasonably priced, stand behind their product and had a good durable blade.

I carry Schrade ''X TIMER'' or a Smith & Wesson "Pocket Protector" Daily. The Schrade has about the blade length that you where looking into and the S&W is a little smaller but both of them are great knives and hold great edges and have served me well. Not sure of the prices of either one was a gift and I bought the other off a friend dirt cheep.

Yep. I've got two of them and am very well pleased. Mine don't have the thumb stud, though.

I use to like the Thumb knives but my wife bought me a multi blade for Christmas one year. I LOVE the multi blade.

My dad always Carried a Case Knife. The last time we were in Branson I picked one up that reminded me of the one dad ALWAYS Carried. I couldn't be happier with it.

There are a lot of good knives out there but it would be hard for any to beat a Case knife.

I agree with that. I have a real nice collection of Case knives.
