Default Exchanging Hunts for Eastern Turkey or Whitetail

Many people often talk about the expensive costs these days of booking hunting trips in all areas with outfitters. This got me and my buddies thinking about how many people talk or actually exchange hunts with others. Wanted to see if anyone was interested in exchanging hunts for an Eastern Whitetail or Turkey for a North Eastern or Mid Western whitetail or elk hunts.

You would think a forum like this, with everybody becoming as close as family it seems, we would do more of this.
Although I am not from a highly desirable area of the country to hunt. I am set up to provide a place to stay, food, transportation once here, and a couple different spots to hunt. Even an additional forum friend to meet with.

For me spending $1500 to $3000 or more on a hunt will NEVER happen. However a cheap plane ticket, or driving costs, and a non resident tag could happen if I had a place to stay and a friend to hunt with.
No fees, lodging, or even food expenses could turn a dream of out of state hunting into a reality for some.
    JMO
I would be game for this.

VTbowman, do you have a bear season in your area, and a decent population?

Yes we have a bear season but I am not really sure how populated the state is.
One bad part about hunting in VT is the no baiting laws.
They now encompass all big game but have always covered bear hunting.
You can use dogs though but not my thing.
I went on one bear hunt with dogs and it was basically a 3 mile run through the mountains. No bear. LOL
I certainly do not have them on my property.
Alas I can only offer whitetails and no trophy size at that.
Not really a great offer on my part I admit.

However give me a few years and we should see some results with our antler restrictions.
I got about 10000 doe running around though. LOL
    Almost garenteed deer meat...

Just thought I'd check. A bear hunt with bow would be fun. Dang near impossible without bait though.

Vermont has the largest bear population in New England Per Capita. We also have great potential for deer in some areas, but we excel in Eastern Turkeys.....I called in 16 birds for Vtbowman last year in 2 days........the look on his face that first morning with all the gobbling on the roost was priceless.

Hey guys great idea!!!Like VTbowman said its nearly impossible for some to afford to go on a hunt these days with the OUTRAGEOUS PRICES they have for hunts.I'm sure we all have friends or relitives in other states or provinces and thats the only way to do it and save money doing it.Anyone wishing to come to Canada has a place to stay and some good bear hunting.Deer also but it can be tough at times.

Def sounds like a good thing. Although, I am not sure if my land has the oportunity to tell someone to drive/fly all the way here and not have a chance at a nice deer or turkey. I would feel guilty.

I had 4 bear move in to my property, they seem to be moving the deer out. I'll set you up in my upstairs, bring you coffee, cook eggs and bacon. Just please put them on the ground. 4 weeks ago my wife had her nose pressed against the door, the bear had his nose pressed against the screen. I'm not real good at judging size, but would guess he's around 225 lbs. minimum.

Sorry for not replying sooner have been extremly busy getting our deer stuff set-up. Like I said earlier we have great deer and turkey hunting here in central North Carolina. Were thinking a lot like JBeck here, staying with us so your not spending on food and a place to stay, just they money you want to spend at the store. For further info please PM me.

Would love to do something like this; but don't really know what the land around me holds. Me and a buddy of mine leased 80 acres to deer hunt on this year in Alabama, but still don't know much about the land. Good deer were killed off of it last year, but around here, you never can tell from year to year. Would hate to invite someone down and not be able to provide for them.
