When will the deer start feeding in my plot???

I have a food plot that is mixed with Brassicas and wheat. It is probably about 3 weeks old and growing very well. Wheat is about 6 inches high and Brassicas is about 2-3" high. The deer are not feeding on it at all. Is this going to be used in colder months or have they just no interest in it right now. Looks beautiful, just hope it works.

the key thing is, they have to find it first, once you find a couple deer tracks in your plot, it will be hard to keep em out, just give it time,like the movie(field of dreams) said, if you build it they will come...

Once the natural folage starts to turn and your plot is still green they will use it alot more, and more often.

probably won't touch the brassicas until a good freeze--they'll hit the wheat when they find it and more when the natural forage is gone.

Like others said when other sources are gone they will find the plot and probably use it regularly.

Watch once the crops start coming out Jim. I don't know about your area specifically, but if the beans and corn are still up they're still in there I'd bet.

Your lucky that they haven't eaten it to the ground and didn't give it a chance to take off and root.
Certain forage is not palatable to deer and other animals until the after the 1st frost. I planted Northern Forage , and in it were turnips that push out of the ground at the 1st frost and they become very sweet...which is an attractant. There are a few types of seeds that become better tasting when they freeze.
Give it time and they will come...thats gonna be the only green patch soon. Most everything else will die and turn brown soon. Then that will be the hot spot.

I had the same thing happen, I planted a plot and it came up, and nothing, deer were walking thru it, but wernt touching it. then about 4 to 5 weeks after planting they hit. they have been eating it ever sence and the deer seem to be growing numbers that are using it too.
I agree with DD. the brassicas won't get touched untill a good freeze.

is this the first year for your plot if it is this quote is correct i planted the same thing last year the first week of sept. and the visited it but not much when the rut was over and the herd up it was nothing to see 25 to 30 deer in it in the evnings does and yung bucks mainly didnt see any good bucks in it till mid dec. the plot is just shy of 5 acers

as was said in another post, with the good acorn crop this year I think they're busy with other food sources. Give em a few weeks. When the acorns get eaten up they'll hit the plots. they haven't really hit mine yet either. I'll wait for a cold snap and check it out again.
