    Default Small Foodplot Question!!!

We have a bunch of 2-3 acre clover plots on our property; however, I was thinking about making some small strip food plots in places where we cant put a big plot such as through some woods. I was wondering if any of you have planted some small food plots like this. I was wondering what type of seed I should use for this type of situation. It would probably be in a oak grove or something where there is some sun. Also, I would want to use a push cart so I don't want a seed that needs to be drilled or anything. Also, I was wondering if I should probably harrow the ground first. What seed would most likely be most productive in this planting fashion?

I have one on my property, I tilled up the ground with a tiller hooked to my 4-wheeler. I used Bio-Logic maximum which is all Brassicas and also put some wheat in with it. It was up in 1 week, now it is doing great, the deer won't hit it until the first freeze. Gives it plenty of time to grow. Good luck....

I first recommend a soil test. If you have not plowed it before , then I would break it up deep before discing it. Broadcast you sedd and drag with a small harrow or something similar. I use Tecomate Seed Company products and just started this year, but they have a good website and reputation.

Great advice given by TexasDeerHunter. There are many good seed blends out there. I never drill any of our seeds in. I use a drag made from chain link and some metal pipe.
