    Default SPRAYER MAINTENANCE

This past weekend I put my sprayer away for the winter. Having to store it in an unheated building, I needed to take steps to winterize it. It gets cold up here.
I bought a gallon of RV type anti-freeze and poured it into the tank, hooked the sprayer to a battery, put the nozzles into the tank fill opening and turned her on. Then I took the spray hose and wand and did the same thing. This assured me all the hoses and nozzles were purged of water and had anti-freeze through them. After shutting it off, holding the hoses above the tank let most of the anti-freeze drain back into the tank.
I then drained the tank back into the gallon jug. I lost only about a cup of anti-freeze which was left in the pump. What is in the pump will help keep the valves and diaphram soft.
Next spring I am sure the sprayer will be ready to use when I need it!

Remember the pressure washer which froze a couple years ago? This same treatment would have prevented it!
Lesson learned the hard way. [And expensive]

Great advice there. Never would have thought of that. Does not get too terribly cold here, but will have to remember to do that this year.
