you need at least 45 days. I planted Japanese Millet in my duck hole. A couple other good seed producing plants include buckwheat and milo.

Have any of you planted wild rice for ducks?I know they love wheat. There was a train wreck one time and one rail car spilled it's load of wheat and the ducks came by the thousands to feed on the wheat.

rice should be planted in spring, early summer

if your planting it in water make sure the water is no more than a foot deep where you put the seed, but most people plant it in a plant and flood pond, where they can flood it after its grown some

one way ive heard of plantin it in water is to make little mud balls and roll it over the seeds so they stick to it then throw it out where you want it
