Default School for deer & land management?

I am in the military and looking to get into deer herd and land management when I get out. I would really like to work for private land owners instead of public or govt. lands. Any information on what type of schooling or certification to back me would be great. Thanks!

Most colleges and universities that have significant agriculture programs now offer range and wildlife management degrees. Texas Tech and Texas A&M both have excellent programs.

yep--I would check with some colleges in your area and see if they offer any wildlife management degrees. You might also check with a junior college and see if it is available in an associates degree.

    good luck

Thanks for the help so far. Keep it coming! I was hoping for a certificate type course. Like microsoft has MSCE, just a course to give me something to put in my resume. I really can't go anywhere for college right now.

Check with North Country Whitetails because they offer land and wildlife management courses with certificates when completed. I also believe you can take a course through the Whitetail Institute.

This Missouri Master Wildlifer program might be right up your alley, soldier. I'm not sure if you would have to be in MO to take it, or if you could arrange another location (it is offered via interactive TV).

If I were you, I would join the QDMA and read their magazine. Then you could contact their staff for suggestions on what your goals may be. They have very knowledgable people who are willing to listen and work with you. This could be the best money you ever spent. You won't get a runaround or a lot of " bull " just some good advice from informed folks.
If you need info on joining, PM me and I'll gladly respond.
