    Default My new foodplot tool

If you read my thread "What are your goals" I said that one of my goals was to buy a 6 foot rototiller. I was talking to a local company about the one that I would like to get, first they said they did not have any in stock so I figured I would wait until spring. My father and I got talking about it one day and he asked me to call and find out when they would be getting one in so I did and the lady said we just got one in yesterday, so after work dad and I got in the truck and went and picked it up.

When we got to my parents house we backed it up to the door but mom would not let us bring it in the house and put it under the tree , might have been a little heavy to carry for just the two of us though!!

The only tool I need now is a corn planter and I will have pretty much all I need.

Just thought I would share the good news

    Here is a picture.

good buy--I have that exact tiller except in 5ft. Wish I would have purchased the 6ft now b/c my Kubota pulls the 5ft like a hot knife thru butter. You will love the tiller.

    enjoy

Nice tiller. Looked at some king cutter tillers at tsc just yesterday. Cannot decide what size I want though.

You know the great thing abour the king kutters is that they are affordable. I looked at a lot of tillers and you can spend a lot of money in a hurry. I looked at parts avaliability and you can buy them right on the website and if you register you can see all the prices without having to call someone. I guess what size tractor you have is the size you would want to go with, we were lucky enough to borrow one last year and knew a 6 foot tiller would work just fine. If you get one let me know and maybe you, dogdoc and I can all compare notes on the do's and don'ts with the machine

Think TSC's prices were probably a bit high.

Problem for me is I have 2 tractors, and would like to be able to use the tiller with either of them. One is a 22 hp kubota subcompact, the other a 47 hp m series kubota utility.

Chris(Tominator) tells me that my bx will run a bigger tiller than the manual says it is rated for, but the bx is a brand new tractor we just got at the end of this summer and not sure I want to use something bigger or heavier than it is rated for, it is supposed to be rated for a 42 inch I think without referencing the book. My neighbor has an older bush hog brand 5 ft tiller that has probably been used once, that he will let me use anytime I need it. I could actually probably buy it from him pretty cheap, but I am pretty sure it is a little too heavy for my smaller tractor.

Want to be able to have maneuverability to get into tight places with the small tractor like small plots and in the garden, but at the same time like the idea of having something big enough to get larger plots done without spending too terribly much time.

Right now I have an old 8 ft jd wheel disc, and a troy built 6 hp garden tiller that I am using, would like to have a tiller for the tractors this spring.

I am not sure if TSC is high or not, I shopped around and could not find anyone around here that could beat it. All said and done we have 1600 into a six foot tiller, the other closest anyone could come was 3000. We run the six foot tiller on a Allis Chalmers D-15 which is around 30hp I believe. The tractor seemed to take it pretty well but our 3 point hitch has been reinforced with bigger bolts where it bolts to the tractor, due to the fact that we have a farmi winch on the back of it and we also use a 7 foot snow blower on it.

The only thing I hate about borrowing something is who pays for the piece of equipment when it breaks down from general wear. That is why we decided to go new also, but if that is in good hape it might be worth taking a good look at. Good luck

After looking at northern tools prices, the price at TSC may actually have been a pretty good buy on the 48 inch tiller.

Yes, I think it is pretty well priced and we were able to save on shipping just cost us gas to go get it.

I just checked on the Northern tools website and the tiller I bought is 1749 and I bought it for 1598 without shipping.
