    Default Forming Cooperatives

I responded to 3seasons about maybe sitting down with his neighbors and talking about his plans to grow better deer on his property. I suggested he try to form a cooperative with his neighbors.
For anyone interested in some good information on this, click onto www.qdma.com, under "more articles" click onto " cooperatives". Some good useful info. which may help everyone.

Sure wish something like that would work here. Unfortunately in my experience with attempts to talk with some of the neighboring hunters here they either don't care at all about managing or they will point blank lie to you and tell you what they think you want to hear.

Just an FYI - There are at least 2 cooperatives that are going strong in my home county. Both started as just a few neighbors getting together and deciding that they wouldn't shoot young bucks. Now, one of them has grown to about 8000 acres, and the other has over 30,000 acres! They do spotlight and aerial surveys every year to help determine actual deer numbers, and they have a biologist come in every year, free of charge from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to help them set their harvest numbers. Both of those areas have seen a dramatic increase in mature buck harvest in recent years, and I don't think anyone will argue that it's attributable to anything other than the cooperative QDM practices of the participating landowners and hunters.
