Default House painters or anyone in the know

I bought a home last year and the paint was apparently just sort of patched on there. I also have a decent amount of water damaged trim (brick molding, etc) around the garage door, front door, windows, etc. that needs to be replaced. I could do it all and paint it but the roof has a heavy pitch and by the time I invest the time and buy the materials and pay the hospital bills when I fall....well it might be worth paying someone.

I have two quotes that come in right around $1,900 - 2,000 for the job.

That includes pressure washing, priming the weathered areas with a special bonding primer, replacing all the bad pieces of wood trim and a couple pieces of siding and one window sill, and painting with either Sherwin Williams or Porter paints.

Is that about normal for just the trim or is that high? The carpentry work adds a lot to the job but would be a pain for most of it and impossible for me to do myself for a little of it.

    Thanks,

Yeah, well I also have masonite....paid a builder friend to look at the house thinking he would do a better job than a home inspector (which often just gloss over stuff) but NO.

So when it is all said and done, I plan to replace all the trim and the siding with Hardie plank...hopefully by then (after I finish the claims process with the masonite people) there will be some competition for Hardie plank--which is skyrocketing-- and the price will fall.

Kind of hard for me to say without seeing the job.
But with the trim replacement, etc, it doesn't sound too bad.
I just charged $635 to paint a room and ceiling downstairs, plus another ceiling in another room, where I had to tape and plastic off the entire room(walls) to protect the wood paneling.
The room I painted had mold growing up about 3 ft on 3 walls, so that had to be washed with bleach to kill the mold and then painted with a good oil primer.

Depending on how much trim you have and how many repairs, the price doesn't sound over-board.
I try to make $25 per hour, but it ain't easy. I estimate it hoping for that, but ussually end up making $15 to $20, when all is said and done.

    Thanks, Buckee.

That didn't sound too terrible plus it would absolutely free me up from having to plan and do all this woodwork and painting. I like to paint and do things myself but I hate heights and tall roofs.

Maybe you can hire Buckee to do it, have paintbrush, will travel, it would be good for him to travel on down to Georgia, maybe even stop at Realtree's headquarters while he's in the area, then again not sure he would make it across the border to get here!
