Sunday October 16th.
Today was a lot windier than yesterday. I figure blowing 20 with gusts up to 30. I still managed to get out and into my treestand around 4:30. The stand was overlooking a cut cornfield and I thought I might get a buck putting on some final weight before the next big phase. The only thing I saw was a big fat spider floating on the breeze. It's a good thing he was floating away from me, I am pretty sure screaming like a girl in my treestand would have scared
Saturday October 15th.
I was debating even going out today since the wind was blowing 15 with gusts up to 20. As they say though, you can't shoot 'em if your sitting on the couch. So I got out to my stand about 4pm. It turns out the wind wasn't that bad, not at gusty at least. About 6 I hear a deer sneaking in behind me. A lone doe comes walking up the trail, not giving me a shot. I had to drop my daughter off at grandma's house before I got ready to go. I got to my stand and realized I was a ball of sweat. It was warmer than I thought. I got settled in around 4:50. It didn't take long for me to get dissappionted. The wind, which was forcasted to be out of the NW at 3,
Well it was a last minute decision to hit the woods. Again I forgot my Thermacell, so I had to battle the bugs. They weren't as bad as they were on Saturday, but still annoying.
I spooked a pack of turkeys on the walk into my stand. I knew I should have bought that fall turkey tag. I didn't get on stand until 4:30, which is way late for me. The first deer I noticed was a doe at 6:15 or so. She came in behind me and worked he way back into the alfalfa field.
