Day 4, Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 was a beautiful day. Started out kind of cool but warmed up and was real nice.
We started out the day by taking a tour of the newe house Steve is building for his daughter. It is going to be nice with a wonderful viewout of both the back and the front.
We then headed down to the area we will be deer hunting on Thursday and did a little scouting. While we did not see any animals, we spoke with the rancher and it does sound promising.
We have made it to Gillette, checked in and got unpacked. Will be heading out shortly to meet up with Steve. Saw a ton of antelope on the way from South Dakota.
I have taken a lot of pics already, and may try to load some of them up this evening.
Will also post a follow up of todays events.
Left York, Nebraska this morning heading towards Mount Rushmore. If anybody asks you, you can tell them without a doubt, Nebraska has a lot of corn. Huge fields of it.
Put in about 500 miles today and did a little sight seeing. When we got into South Dakota, we first swung through the Bad Lands area, saw quite a bit of interesting scenery there. When we left there heading west or trying to due to about a 30 - 40 mph cross wind that was unbearable, we finally made it to Mount Rushmore.
Jake started feeling bad yesterday evening, and when he got up this morning he has a pretty bad cough and doesn't feel very good. He should be getting out of his drivers ed class in just a few minutes and we will be heading out. He is just going to have to fight through this cold he is getting and tough it out.
Jacob has his first drivers ed class in the morning from 8 till 10 and as soon as he gets out we will be getting on the road for about a 24 hour drive to Gillette Wyoming to meet up with Mr. SteveB to chase some antelope & deer.
If time permits on the way, we are planning on detouring by Mount Rushmore to do the tourist thing for a bit.
I will be taking my computer and hopefully will be able to update this daily.
