Default A possibility to Cowher\'s leaving.

Could Cowher see that the team wasn't going anywhere as long as Big Ben was the QB and he didn't want to be part of the downhill slide of the Steelers?

I think if Big Ben would have played up to the hype, Cowher probably would have stayed. Think about it, the future looked pretty bright after they won it all last season...then it all went to heck.

Retirement was probably in the back of Cowher's mind all along, but I'm sure if he thought he had a legit shot at more titles...he'd stay.

Cowher still had one year left on his contract. I know he stayed 15 freaking years, but he still jumped ship before his "contract" was up.

Kind of puts him in the same boat as Saban, dont'cha think??

Let's not put Cowher in the same class as Saban. He was there 15 years for crying out loud. Not exactly the "3 years and I am out" Saban.

I also think that the whole spend time with my family thing was just a nice way of wanting to get out of the trains way. I think he seen the team getting older, knew Big Ben peaked his rookie year, and didn't want to be the coach that went down with the ship.

I mean who has 2 daughters in college and 1 in high school. All of a sudden you want to spend time with the last one before she leaves for college?

I don't think its fair to compare him to Saban either. I think the guy's a good coach, and a decent guy. But I definitey agree with you Lou, first the Bus retires, then they lose their trickster Randle El, next Porter is gone, and that Oline is getting old.

I just think Cowher sees its only gonna get worse and why not leave when he's somewhat on top??

Maybe he just wanted the 48 hours as a headliner on ESPN. How much analysis can you have on a guy resigning? I don't care who he is or who he's spit on!
