I taught, you would have hated me I guess :-) You gotta remember school is a game, and you have to play by "their" rules, or you get thrown out (principals office) Get over it, correct your grammar and just make it through: That's the birddog's advice for you.
20 points is quite outrageous
Ain't is a word so...... she should have not taken that many points off maybe 1or 2 because of improper grammar or something like that.
that just "AINT" right
I'd take another 20 points off for complaining about it.
Your teacher is trying to make an impression on you. Remember: "When opportunity knocks, correct english opens many doors".

Well my young friend, take this as a lesson in tough love. It is far better to lose 20 points on a test score than to lose an opportunity at a $20.00 per hour job because of poor grammer. And believe me, the people doing job interviews do notice those types of things. Now suck it up, quit whining, learn from your mistake and carry on.
Notice how all of the older people took up against you... Im with you there are some crazy teachers out there. I have one who wont tell me what Im looking for when im working with HVAC equiptment. He told me the other day "youll find out" when I asked him if something had power. I lost it, I proceeded to tell him were I would put my foot if I "found out" and he proceeded to mumble under his breath and not talk to me for the rest of the day. Older people you guys dont get it, sometimes it is us, but most of the time it isnt. There are still some good kids out there and besides, If I read the post correctly he didnt put aint on his paper he just said it? Thats rediculous, maybe I missunderstood but the fact is it IS a word so she needs to go back to college and learn english again before she can teach it.
Point is ain't isn't GOOD english, and she was trying to teach him that. Ain't isn't proper english, there are many many WORDS out there that people don't use and ain't is one of them. I know teachers can goof, but shes is just making a point for this young man so he will learn his lesson. We had to write sentences 100's of times if we said ain't in class when I was younger.
Right but the point is he didnt write it he said it (the way I interpreted the first post). Now that being said If someone says something in your class you shouldnt take off points on a test because they said aint. Thats rediculous.
Its not rediculous if that teacher has a rule that aint isn't to be used in her class.
I had a friend that said the word ain't in a sentence at a job interview for Manufacture Engineer. He was highly qualified for the job, but messed up because the word "ain't". He hasn't used that word since.
