    What would be a good compound bow to get my 9 year old son.

    A cheap one. Make sure it isn't a top of the line bow yet, even if that is what he would want. Only being 9, he'll out grow it in no time. If he is looking for something just for target shooting, try the Mathews Genesis. It has no specific draw length, but is no way a hunting bow.
