Slugs...
slugs for sure.
Slugs.... can't use buckshot in WI, not sure I would want to, Lil hunter, you get your deer? Last I heard was a no???????
nope, haven't got one yet. If I ever do shoot one, i'll send you a pm to let you know.
If your deer hunting your going to want slugs, I don't think buckshot would pack enough power.
definetly go with slugs guys. i personally use a rifle, but i know that u can only use shotguns in some states down there, so if there is an option go with the slugs. sabot slugs work great, my friend uses them.

That statement is very untrue. I hunt with a club during our week long shotgun season and we primarily drive. Nothing beats a well patterned buckshot gun. So far I have 5 bucks to my name with buckshot and have never had a deer get away from me crippled. The effective range of buckshot usually runs about 60 yards (it is capable of killing at further distances but most guns will not pattern well enough to shoot further). However, I have witnessed a deer killed at 80 yards. There is a choke tube on the market known as a Patternmaster, which greatly improves your patterns. If your shooting is going to be within that 60 yards, I'd definitely recommend buckshot, it'll put'em in a pile for sure!

Alright I take it back. But my vote is still for slugs.
We are not allowed to use slugs in our shotgun only area here. It's buckshot only and I along with 5 or 6 friends have been hunting with shotgun for many, many years.
Buckshot is very effective on deer, however, with that said, you must know your range. It is a lot like bow hunting. You don't want to shoot out past 30 to 35MAX yrds. or you stand a really good chance of wounding the animal.
If your using buckshot...know your range and keep your shots 30 yrds or less
buckshot is illegal in Ohio. Slugs are used but I use Remingtom copper solids in my shotgun. It makes a pretty hole in the deer.![]()
how did it go what did u use
Slugs and buck shot carries the power to bring a deer down but it has to be at close range.
