    hey happy new year to all hunters i hope not just me is counting down to the next deer season well i am going phesant hunting what kind of shot would you use and would you use a 20gauge, a 16gauge, or a 12gauge for the flat lands of amarillo texas?

    all depends on the range.... i'd use a 20ga #6 shot, or 12ga #6. i use both 12ga and 20ga for partridge (ruffed grouse) hunting up here and i always use #6 shot. we dont have pheasents in my area.... unfortunately

    well i went i use my 16gauge 6 shot and i got a rooster with a 8in. tail

    ya ya ok i shot him but he fell and ran and we didnt have dogs so we lost him u might think how can u lose somehting like a that if u have ever hunted around amarillo texas u know what i mean

    Either a 20 or a 12 gauge is appropriate I think... I would probably use an over and under. They got any chuckers there?

    You will lose pheasents more often than ya think....jonny rooster is one tough bird. I've seen them do some amazing things after getting swatted with some pretty heavy stuff. The only way is to get on those birds as fast as ya can.
