Backpacking the Smokey Mountains [pics]

My brother and I took a backpacking trip to the Smokies last year. I usually keep a journal on our backpacking trips.. I could dig it up and provide more details if anyone is interested (I seem to remember writing down some colorful descriptions).. but here are the pics...

The last day+night we were on top of Sterling ridge.. and at about that time the remnants of hurricane Frances (hit florida pretty bad last summer) started hammering us.. It was a rooouuugh trip backpacking.. (the last day is supposed to be easy right??) really tested our skills, wits, and off the cuff decision making.. we dealt with some flash floods, strong winds, and were constantly double checking each other for hyperthermia (err is it hypo?)

anyways, here are some of the pics (sometimes it was hard to bring the camera out in the rain)

We were on the Tennessee side, hiked along Big Creek for 3 days and then up and over Sterling Ridge.

The Smokey Mountains are a portion of the Appalachian Mtns.. They lie along the Tennessee and N. Carolina border.

I thought the photos were a little bigger than that.. I'll resize and re-upload tonight.. They show a little better if they are larger.

Hey Shutter... you should take that camera of yours and go to Tallulah Falls/Gorge. ( Up there around the Smokies) AWESOME SIGHT. I can just imagine some of the shots you could get.

we caught mostly brookies and a couple rainbows.. We puddle jumped all day long.. fishing hole after hole.. don't get much of that in Texas.. cant wait to do it again.
