    Jason,

    The flash won't be a problem once it's outdoors. Also make sure you have the setting on DAYLIGHT & not Alight & set the EV to 0.

    Digitals do take a little longer than the 35mm to wake up. The only solution to this would mean a lot shorter battery life.

    Flash on ours is set to auto and it works fine.

    It is not as fast as a 35 mm unit. Dont think too many digitals are.
