I just went and checked my Leaf River after only being out for TWO days and had 24 pictures of only bucks. I usually don't check my cameras this often but I was in the area and just decided to check it out. What a surprise...

Originally before the picture loaded for me and you mentioned the lump on his shoulder I was going to suggest a warble.... but that's MUCH much much too big to be one.

Birth defect? Hit by car in the past? Swelling from a previous injury? Could be anything.

Man those are some nice deer. The knot on the shoulder looks to me like an old injury. I took a doe two years ago with a knot like that on her hind quarter area. When we dressed her out found about a 4" piece of an arrow where someone had made a bad shot several seasons before.

I'm willing to bet the shoulder is a rotator cuff injury, probably from playing beer league softball, thats how I did mine.

Beautiful bucks!!!!!! Send them my way! I would saw it looks like maybe a build-up of scar tissue from an old injury or it could be some type of growth/tumor thing but I'd say old injury.
