I just got a JVC GRD270. I like it. It coud be better, but for the price, it's got a lot of bang for the buck. Depends on what you want to spend in the end.
I'm interested to see the recommendations on this topic as well. I'm in the market for one, but I am very concerned about the low-light capabilities of some models. Any ideas on this?
Bump.....we are shopping around as well.
I looked around and just got a new Sony DVR-DVD92.
This camera is DVD but you can use the read/write DVD's and re record over what you recorded. It takes good quality video also. It is small and easy to carry in your backpack. It has the night shot so you can get some good low light shots. I had to go with Sony because my last one went through some rough treatment and still works. I dropped it two or three times from my stand and into a creek in Tennesse. It still worked after each time. I did have to dry it out for a couple of weeks after the creek thing. Now it works but has a haze around the lens when filming and it would cost to much to change this out so I bought the new one. Good luck.
