Went to check the traps this morning and this boy was in there. This afternoon I am going to get another trap and put it in the same area, maybe in the morning we will have 2 hogs instead of just 1

Just curious. What in the world are you trying to "trap" in those things. The cages look only a bit smaller than my garage. I know everything is bigger in Texas, but holy cow! Wait, that's it - a cow, right?![]()
Looks like that guy has some pretty good sized tusks.
Oh man thats goota be some good eating!Never had it.Whats it like?
Trapping is OK but it is more fun to hunt them. Good eating that is for sure.
Good eatin to say the least
He did have some pretty good cutters on him, and if he could have gotta to me, he would have used them. He was not a happy hog this morning, when I was putting him from the trap into the trailer.
Wild hogs taste just like any other pork, other than it will not have as much fat on the cuts.
That's great Tonya! Congrats on another hog.![]()
So what do you do once you load them in the trailer? Do you take them to the butcher like a domestic hog?
I just thought a .22 would take care of the job..

If we can catch a few more larger hogs this week, then they will go to a buying station about 25 miles from our place so that the trip will be worth our time. If we don't catch any more bigger hogs, then he will go into the freezer for a future BBQ![]()

So do you just shoot them once they're in the trap?

We always take the hogs out of the traps alive, it doesn't matter if we are going to eat them or not. If you shoot a hog in the trap and then get all the blood on the ground, it will be awhile before another hog will enter the trap.
thats cool, i bet thats as exciting as hunting
