thanks, my woods is really hard to hunt, its 40 acres of thorn apple thickets and the farthest you can see in any stand is 40 yards. the normal 1 1/2 yr old is a 4 or 6 point with about 14 inch spread, so thats why im tryin to cull that deer

nice pics. I'd say leave that deer alone and see what becomes of him as a 2 1/2 year old. If you're still not happy with him then let him have it - if you have a decent buck/doe ratio he won't be doing any breeding for a couple years anyway, so I doubt you need to worry about spreading a poor gene. Where I live, that is a very normal 1 1/2 year old and he may grow into his potential if you let him live. JMO.

Lyn_x i set mine about 3 ft or so, i am 5'9 and i put it about at my waist. i had to go into advance mode and turn the sensitivity down to low cuz i was gettin pics of nothin at first, but since i have down that, from friday night till now i got 40 pics of deer and a couple of a squirrel that was on the side of the tree. i dont know about everyone else but that height has worked good for me with my camtrakker as well.

We have lots of 1 horned spikes on our land but they do develop into something better. Give it time and see what happens.

BTW: The buck to doe ratio in my area is more like 10 to 1. We are trying to work on that ratio as well.

Good luck, looks like you have a great spot!

I'd be killing does before worrying about culling that buck.

40 acres though might be tough to do a QDM on. What are your neighbors doing?

we have a total of 70 acres but 40 is woods, it sucks cuz my neighibors shoot anything they see including button bucks. one of my neighibors has QDM signs up. he owns 120 acres but so far this year he has taken a button buck and a decent 1.5 yr old 6 point.

I am up near the Bay City/Saginaw area, not far from you at all!! Most guys in our state are heading south anymore than going north as there are some big bucks down there.
