Went scouting today at a place I found last Sunday that showed a lot of turkey and deer sign. Wanted to get there before sun up to sit, but I was a little late. It was light when I got in there but I decided to sit in this spot to see what might appear. My hopes were for some turkeys, and although I didn't see any until making my way out, I did hear my first gobble of the year which was nice!
Anyways, I was sitting for about 15 minutes when a couple deer appeared.
Also had a couple little friends stop by. The chickadee is my favorite bird. Sort of like "mans best friend in the wild".
Came across this little guy.
This hare actually thought he was "blending in".
I was looking at a rub, when something above caught my attention.....a barred owl. Notice it has brown...not yellow eyes like most owls. I also saw one in NH about 3 weeks ago.
A few rubs.
Snapped a picture of some turkeys, but they were very wary and hard to sneak up on.
There are still pockets of snow, but it is going fast. It was a great day to be in the woods. Spring has officially started for me since hearing my first gobble!
