    Default Videoing a hunt?

Have you personally tried to video a hunt or kill?
I tried last season to capture my son shooting a doe with Blackpowder.
We were in a tent type blind and sitting on 5 gal. pails. When he shot I jumped about a foot, nearly dropped the camcorder and couldn't see a thing for the smoke.
Not being a perfect shot the deer got up and started moving. My comment of .... was not permissable on a family channel.
We recovered the deer but I left the camcorder in the blind in my haste to check the kill out.
We have watched the "video" several times and have some great laughs over it. the audio is "x" rated.
Try it. It isn't as easy as it looks.

Now you know why the pros take a lot of out-takes to add in later.

Took the cam a few times on hunts with my oldest daughter a couple years ago. We had the field loaded with deer on her first muzzleloader hunt for quite some time, she was 8 years old then and we got it on tape. She would not shoot. When asked as we were getting down why she would not take a shot, she replied that she was shaking so hard she was scared she could not make a good shot and she did not want to injure a deer.

This past year she killed her first deer at age 9, unfortunately we did not take the camera. It really was a shame we didnt, because we watched some action that in my time hunting I had never seen before. Watched a couple fights with one being really intense out in front of us just before she shot her buck.

I've had pretty good luck with turkey hunts, but deer hunts have not been so good. I think it really enhances the hunt if you can get the kill on video, it is nice to be able to watch it again and show friends and family instead of just telling the story.

I videoed myself shooting a doe last season. It was pretty spectacular when the round from the 7 mag hit her.

I tried to video my son shooting a doe antelope last fall. Our guide pointed a group out and told him to shoot one of that group. Then he changed his mind and told him to shoot out of another group. While I was repositioning the camera he changed his mind again back to the first group. When the shot went off I was on the wrong animal. Oh well.
