    Default Oh my.. he\'s grown.

He's officialy a six point and still growing. Last pics we got of him were on 6/6/06. His browtines need to even out and he needs to grow some more points. I'd shoot him as he is now if he was in hard antler, but if he is the buck from last year, he should be better than an 8pt, right?

Not necessarily. The number of points a buck has when fully mature is due to genetics mainly.
It used to be an old wives tale that deer grew a new point every year. NOT SO, and not even close.
If he is a genetic 8 pointer, that is all he will ever be, but each year up until his prime, he will just continue to be a bit bigger and more impressive 8 pointer, based on the food he eats.
We have a lot of genetic 2x2's around here. We try to let them grow to be at least 3 years old before shooting them, just to make sure that they are true genetic 2x2's and will never grow any more tines.
They do get pretty impressive looking as they grow old, but they are still just 2x2's.

who knows on how many points he will end up. But he does still have a lot of time to grow more, maybe points, maybe mass, tine length only time will tell. Needless to say it will be fun to watch.

Buckee hit the nail on the head Joe. He may never be anything more than an 8 point, but looks to me like he is putting on some weight.

He's going to be spindly IMHO, but if he's what you want, pop him.

Just make sure he doesn't get to the river this year.

No matter how many points its obvious hes going to be an impressive deer. It'd be cool to get many more pictures of him growing and then a final one with him in the back of your truck.

He was back last night. He is now an eight pointer and still has plenty of more time to grow. His brow tines are still uneven but his body is huge!! The other two bucks he hangs with are looking good as well. The next biggest is also an eight pointer, but very wide. Wider than the big guy. And the other one is getting extremely wide as well and it looks like he's trying to put on some G2's but he doesn't have browtines, so can I call them G2's?
