The Mother Load.......

Some of you older members, may remember that one of my first spots I ever gained access to bowhunt back home, was this nice little alfalfa field surrounded with good stands of cottonwoods and oaks.....

Well I always saw deer at this spot, but nothing ever really exceptional, so I quit hunting it for 3 or 4 years.......well while shed hunting this last spring, I never found any good sheds, but I found a big old rub on a tree about 16" in diameter.....a monster rub........so I decided that when I got some cameras bought back up, I would set one or two out.........man, am i glad I did.

In the first week, I had 234 images.......and out of that I was able to wittle it down to about 10 excellent pics........here's the best of the best so far..........I guess I know now where i will be spending alot of time come Sept. 1st

PS.....no ribbing about the date stamp.....I hardly ever set mine.....maybe I should one of these days, eh ?!?! LOL

From the looks of it, it appears to be close to an inside corner (actually a couple inside corners) and those big boys are out in LEGAL SHOOTING LIGHT!!! Good luck with them!

You've got it right...the cam is located on one of those inside corners.....and it's on the downwind side most of the time.....

There's supposed to be a double drop tine buck in this area, and would I LOVE to get a pic of him if he exists.............

I did set up another cam way off to the left at the other end of the field, just this morning, so i now have two cams at work down there......can't wait to check them again next week....

On another note......that Big-8 in the last pic sure looks familiar to me.......but this area is about 3 or 4 miles from where I got pics two summers ago......what do you guys think.....same buck or not.....

Ya, the more I look at him, I think this recent buck is a younger buck...doesn't seem to have the mass, that the buck two years ago did.........I'm guessing him to still be a 140+ class buck.....while the one from two years ago was a 160 class.....I got his sheds to prove it, LOL

I do love those high and wide 8's....especially when they have those long brow tines...

Clay--i think i'd be hitting that alfalfa field early season while you still have them patterned.

Todd....especially since it ain't alfalfa anymore....the owner seeds it in oats now-a-days.......I think I'm gonna visit with him a bout possibly paying him to leave some of the oats standing........and I will definitely be trying to fill on one of these bad boys early......

Plus if he does still want to cut it all, there is a wonderful cornfield just behind where this camera is set.........
