Highway in Russia

HOW CAN THE KEEP THEIR SANITY!!

This goes to Show How sensible Russians really Are. They Can Put
a Man in Space, but it takes a week to go to a Grocery Store.
Our Loggers wouldn't use a Deplorable road Like This.

This is the Russian Federal Highway, Moscow City to Yakutsk City. The
road doesn't have asphalt surface, though it is a vital Federal highway.
Every time it rains, the traffic flow gets paralyzed; these shots were
made a few days before the traffic jam of 600 cars got stuck there. Hunger
and lack of fuel followed, according to the witnesses, one woman gave
birth to a child right in the public bus she was riding on.
Construction teams were afraid to appear on site because during their
previous visit they were beaten by people who were stuck for a few days.
People were breaking the locks on the trucks, in search of food and warm
clothes. Fuel, food, firearms and steel tow-line are the things that are
needed most these days on this Federal highway.

Makes the Trans Canada Highway look pretty good eh?

One has to realize that if it hadn't been for Eisenhower, this countries road system would be in shambles also!

How would one expect ot even go 10 feet with a car no less a good 4x4 on that.
I realize its all they got but man use a little common sense to not even drive on it if its like that. Geesh.

Holy smokes! I'll remember those pics everytime I curse when I hit a pothole on the Trans-Canada. Or when I'm stuck on 417 in the lovely morning rush hour in Ottawa... which will be in about 25 minutes.

That's amazing, I think I'd hesatate taking my 4x4 truck down there.

That is pretty crazy. Can remember driving some clay mud roads when I first started driving in Florida.
