Default my deer country, 5 miles in no roads

Here is one of the spots that I hunt in northern utah. No roads in all of the area pictured, no horses allowed (watershed). Needless to say, lots of big bucks. On the day I filmed this in october, we saw some hunters with a 30" wide 7x8 non-typ on the ground. lots of 20"-24" wide 4pts in here. Over the counter tag for non-residents..................

That is great looking country to hunt. What do non resident tags cost? Is that all public land?

    thanks!

Thanks for looking. yes it is all public land. Utah has one of the highest amount of public acres in the US. Horses are not allowed because this is a watershed area- all of the canyons drain into lakes used for public drinking water. If you down an animal, you could get permission to use horses to get it out if you catch them on a good day. This area is part of the northern general unit for deer and tags can be had over the counter for $263 non-res. Forum trip??? I will be hunting southern Utah this year in more open, desert type terrain, but I will be taking my little bro up here the second week of the season.

looks like it would be fun to drag a deer out of if you shot a big bodied buck! much less an elk. horses would almost be a must unless you have strong legs.

Drag? Deer come out of here in little pieces. I'm not crazy enough to try and drag a big old buck out. You have to go up as much as down.

That's some awesome looking country Andy. I'd have to take a few young guys with me to hunt there.

That looks like a good place to go when my son is old enough to haul out the deer for me
