How can you take an image of a person out of a photo without the background. Like for a cardboard cutout of them?? What tool do I use??

    Thanks

Doing a "knock-out" can be very time consuming. Unless you do it every day, plan on a long project. The magic wand will work sometimes, provided the background is all the same color and there isn't any of that color in the subject. Before you statr, make positive you have an original saved. For the large stuff, I use the eraser. Then gradually blow up the image using a smaller and smaller eraser till you get about every last pixel of the background. When I need knock-outs, I hire some one else to do them. It costs me on average about $30 a pic. Once you are finished, remember to save the clipping path.

I do it by hand in my program. It's called "The select by Freehand" feature.
But I'm using MGI Photosuite SE

Sometimes I have to blow it up afterward and rebuild the outline pixel by pixel to soften the hard edges

I rarely use the magic wand because it usually gives a rough edge. I also don't usually go the eraser route unless it's just for something quick I am doing to put on here.

I usually make a path, that way the lines are smooth and i can save my path for later use. I can also save it as a clipping path to drop out the background without having to erase it.

Billkay let me know if you ever need help on doing knock-outs I wouldn't mind picking up a little extra work.
