the little plastic piece has fallen out of both of mine---i did not put it back in and the camera has worked fine. when I manually rewind the film it does sound like it is dragging. I checked mine 2 days ago and the counter was at 21---I went to rewind the film and it wouldn't manually rewind---I put in new batteries and it did just find---I think if the batteries are the bit weak it has a hard time rewinding manually.

I think your camera is just fine---both of mine do the same thing.
