Cool! I see plenty of adults and juvenile gators around here, but never any babies.

Cool pics! Are they like bears? Will attack if you get near their young?

yeah i know momma wouldnt be happy(they are very protective), that is why i climbed back up the bank, lol....she went under water....she was only about a 7 footer, but thats still big enough to get me off the edge......i've been around them for nearly 30 yrs., i know my limits, lol....the water is down here so much that they are all congregated together, i counted over 100 this day, in a 2 mile stretch...and that was just on one side of the road...
they are awesome creatures.....and must be respected.....it's ashame folks dont know that they have to be killed when they feed them, they lose their fear of humans....there was a 13 footer i had to call in a couple of yrs. ago.......it broke my heart, he had been a part of those waters for years and then overtime ,he lost his fear and showed his butt so to speak, all because folks dont listen...so he was killed.

    Cool pics.

Respecting them is one thing. Realizing they are dangerous and like other predators that pose a threat, dealing with them is another. I dont see a problem with Florida or anywhere else having a season on gators, they do need thinned out especially in some areas.

oh, they definately need to be hunted...they are everywhere......the one that was killed had been a part of the river for yrs. folks knew him by name....thats why that was heartbreaking but i knew it had to be done....the bad thing about where i work is off limits to hunting during the season, it's like a 19 mile stretch where theres no hunting them on the river, which has caused an overpopulated section....it needs to be hunted.....i heard it's some kind of mating/research zone......theres been times when i'm in the woods, water no where around for a mile and i walk up on a gator laying under a tree, talk about freaking out briefly, lol.......i was clearing the mytrle trees on the marsh(about 225-250 acres) and there was very little water , bout ran her over.......

this is one of my favorites...drinking a bottle water.....maybe it can teach folks not to litter.....not that any of us on here would do that, lol....

theres been times when i'm in the woods, water no where around for a mile and i walk up on a gator laying under a tree, talk about freaking out briefly, lol
Had a few end up in our front yard where we lived out in the country outside the Orlando area, closest water was about a mile and a half away. Sad thing was that water was filled in later on right before we moved, and home builders built subdivisions there . One I will never forget was a 4 footer that was downright nasty. That thing hissed and snapped at us several times. My stepfather and I managed to get the thing in a dog kennel and then relocated it at the nearest water. Neighbor across the road told us his cat was missing , guess it might have been gator bait.

Another thing I will never forget, we had been out on the St Johns river back late 80's, or maybe around 1990. Had been all over the river, and had seen several gators, and had been in the water some. That weekend while we were there a little girl was eaten .

poor cat...............oh , that is horrible......i was reading a book on gator attacks about a year ago.....there was like 18 different stories.....she might of been one of them......that is so sad.....one day i was at work, this woman had her 2 kids(diapers still) on the waters edge, my heart sunk, i talked to about the dangers, the very next day she was there doing it again, i snapped.....but there was nothing i could do, i had to leave in fear i might see something i didn't want to see......thank God i never got a call to go back to the river.....Orange county is where i'm talking about too.....st.johns river.......even those lil boogers can get mean, the last one i had to rescue from going onto the beachline was about 3 foot, the meanest lil thing you ever did see, lol......and the strength of them is underestimated as well, at least i underestimated it when i grabbed my first one, you go to grab one and youre whipped everywhere, anything over 3-4 foot , i wont mess with, i'll call a trapper or one of our officers...thankfully that only happens once every couple of years.....when we were kids, we used to party in the woods/swamps(imagine that, ma partying in the woods, lol), we'd catch gators and get pics of us giving kisses, it's amazing we're still alive...my sister is the one that has scars though, she got bit, i never quite had the balls or stupidity level that she did, lol......
