Default how much does a deer grow in one year

well to the best of my ability through blowing these photos up and asking friends opinions I feel all three of these deer are the same deer. If you notice on the ear it has a notch in it in all 3 deer. If it is indeed the same deer that would mean that this bugger gained 100 inches of antler in one season. The first photo is from 9-11-06, the second and third are from 6-23-07, and the forth and fifth are from 7-25-07.

That's pretty interesting. Based on that ear, I'd say it's the same deer, but who knows?

They all have that distinctive ear mark. I agree, looks like the same deer. That sure is a big difference in a year. You wouldn't see that drastic of a change down here in one year.

    Ditto!

It does look very much like the same deer. I would think that it depends on genetics and what the deer is eating to how fast he grows.
I figure God only gave me so many sunrises, I might as well not miss one.

As a deer matures, and skeletal and muscle growth is for the most part complete, all nutrition goes to the rack. It is very possible this deer had great genetics, reached maturity and put all his high protein nutrition towards his rack. He must have survived the winter pretty well and didnt have much weight to put on. That is very interesting though. Awesome buck

I think it is the same deer on optimal food source a bucks antlers can grow 2 to 3 inches a day. I believe I am not completly positive on that though

Pretty sure I read somewhere that antlers grow 1/4 inch per day under optimal growing conditions.

Looks like the deer was 2 1/2 in the first photo and 3 1/2 in the following ones.

That third year is when deer really grow up.

Milo Hansen's buck was supposedly only 3 or 4yrs old, so it's very possible.
