I have question about what type of equipment is needed to video a hunt ? I have been very succesful at calling bucks and does to my stand setup . Only a few close friends have experience me calling them in . I would like to get proof to show the other fellows in my hunting circle that it works and also show the bucks that I do not pull the trigger or loose an arrow at . They shoot a lot of immature bucks very few are over 3yrs of age . I personnaly have passed up at least 15 bucks this year . Six have been 8 pointers that ranged from 14" to 20" wide none had what I was looking fore {Mass ,tine length} Please help me ??

    Welcome to the forums.

What type of equipment really depends on how much you want to spend. I am using a sony handycam mini dv and have been really happy with it. Use a window mount for a spotting scope right now that clamps on the rail of my stand or on a bow hanger. Have posted a few of the videos I have taken with it here over the past year or so. It has plenty good enough quality for what I use it for. If you are planning to use the video for other purposes and need a more professional setup, the cameras can get on up there. One thing I would suggest is investing in a good camera arm setup. I plan on getting one soon, my setup works, but not really the best setup.

Any consumer camera in mini-dv format will work..........make sure to buy a decent tree arm (I have used the pine ridge arm in the past with success, currently I am using the Hunter Cam Cradle HD)....... When looking for a camera you will want something with a high OPTICAL zoom, disregard the DIGITAL zoom because it is worthless......I have shot alot of footage with a Panasonic GS120, it is a good little 3 ccd camera, easy to pack in and has good picture quality........I would also recomend that you invest in a good shotgun mic, as audio is just as important as video...........My current set up is a Panasonic DVX100P, topped with a Rode videomic(Not the best mic but it does a decent job) as I stated before the Hunter Cam Cradle HD, and a pair of Sony headphones.....this set up is probably more costly than you want to spend, but I tape hunts semi-professionally and need broadcast quality equipment.........................for some pointers on self taping your hunt visit my website and check out my blog: http://www.pronghornproduction.com/t...urownhunts.htm

    Good luck!

Thanks guy's this really good information and I will put it to good use . I did not think about the sound quality at first but now I see how it all comes togeather . Just be ready I have had some really nice bucks come busting in on me when I am rattling . They just did not have what I was looking for ! My buddies that I hunt with think I blowing smoke up a their crevises about what I see because they have never seen these bucks . I just hope they see them only on video ! These bucks need to grow another year or two .
