    Default another season survivor

This is the third rack buck we have seen since the rifle season ended and while not as big as the other two he is a fine young buck. Once again, looking out the kitchen window.

I think you should just hunt from your kitchen window next year. That is a nice buck.

    Default a little update

This young buck seems to have injured his left front leg close to the body, almost armpit area. There is a little blood and perhaps some raw meat showing. Hard to tell due to it being on the inside of the leg, even when looking at 20 yards with 10x glass. He is exhibiting a slight limp. We see him almost everyday, along with the two bigger ones and several spikes, and I am curious to see how he heals from this. As a side note, one of the smaller 4 points (western count) in the area dropped an antler almost where this guy is standing in the picture. Hunt from the kitchen? No and heck no. I do not even hunt on our property at all. I have three small food plots and a water trough (frozen solid now) and there are always deer, turkeys and grouse wandering about the property, but with thousands of acres of National Forest Service bordering the property there are many better hunting opportunities to take advantage of. If all I wanted was to shoot a deer, yes I could just open the kitchen window and a short bow shot away is a P&Y buck, but, that is not hunting.

Didn't mean nothing by the window thing bud no offense I woudln't hunt out the door either. Wouldn't be any fun.

No offense taken with the kitchen window hunting comments. I do not think anyone who would partake in these forums would be truly serious when throwing out a comment like that. There are many who would not hesitate to shoot from their humble abodes and be pretty proud of themselves. Most of the people where I work love the pictures of the deer I take in to share with them and can not understand why I do not hunt my property and I am sure some think that the deer I do shoot come out of the back yard. These deer are an example of why I think hunting from a box blind isn't hunting, just shooting.
