    The word terrapin just refers to all turtles that are aquatic/semi aquatic and live in fresh water. It isn't a particular type of turtle. Judging by the pic this is more of a land turtle (like a box turtle) because of the arched shell. Terrapins have flatter shells. Nice pic though
