    Default Coyote!!

My hunting/fishing buddy and I went flyfishing today at Savage River in Western Maryland and saw a coyote come up from up the river on the other side. She came up across from us and was acting almost like a dog instead of a coyote! She even tried to swim across but turned back because she didn't lile the water. She showed no signs of agression and acted like she wanted to come to us. She eventually left and we went back fishing. My buddy went upstream and I was standing there fishing when all of a sudden I turned and she was there at my feet trying to snuggle up to me and jump up like a dog. She was fit and healthy and not mangy at all. I gave her my PopTart because I was afraid at first! Turns out all she wanted was to get some attention and get petted. She even chased a stick my buddy threw. She played with my flyline and net and hung around us most of the morning. She even followed us down river and almost acted sad when we crossed back across the river and she couldn't go. Here are some pics.

Yeah, possibly part dog mix and raised in a home? Not sure, acts like a dog, looks like a coyote!

Very unusual behavior. That dark muzzle makes me think it's a cross, and it's behavior makes me think it was raised by someone.
Maybe he was looking to get adopted. He sure looks lovable...eh.

Want to know how tame? Forgot to add this-when we were playing, he put his mouth on my wrist like he was playing but didn't bite down!! (Thankfully!) I certainly didn't encourage that, she just did it!!

Think it is a coydog. We have some around I here, got jumped while turkey hunting by a yote and a dog running together back this spring. Seen some strange behavior in yotes here.

Very cool experience and some great pics.

The rest of the story...before my buddy came back in sight, I was really puzzled about what was going on with that coyote. I was alittle, well, maybe more than a little but confused because he acted so friendly yet I knew what he was. Would she turn vicious in a second, who knew? So I waded out into the river where I knew she didn't like to go. Not! Here she came doing the 'coyote paddle' but the current took her downstream a little but she got out and came back up to me. Here is a pic of her trying to catch up to me. Here is another pic of my friend and the type of greeting he got when he came back downstream.

Thats very interesting. It must be a coyote raised in a home. The Coyotes in national parks, that get fed by people all the time, don't even act that tame. Amazing.
    Better than I deserve.

When was a kid we got hold of a pup, it was colored almost exactley like that, same looks and everything. When it got bigger it looked almost exactley like a coyote. Well dad went and asked the guy about it, and he said they all turned out like that, So he guesses his sheppard got bread by a coyote. The dog was a good little dog until you turned it loose, it would be gone for 3 - 5 days then it would come home. It would not listen to its name either. Cool pictures!!
