My Video Camera Won't take the Tape

My Video Camera won't take the tape. It is a sony. I put it in and click that thing and it spits it back out.... it says error C:31:40 Any ideas will be much appriciated

Do you have an owners manual? Can you contact Sony?? Other than that, I don't have any ideas.

yeah I have the manual, it says to take the tape out and reinsert it....duh.. anyway it also says to take out the battery and reinsert it but that did not work either....

Sony has a good website that takes you through the troubleshooting process step by step. Not knowing what model you have the only thing I could find out was " Error C:31 internal error, reset the camera. (either by reset button, removing batteries, or turning camera off.) Try the website and with your model no: you may be able to get better or more info. .....popgun

No need to get ugly! When you say duh, I feel your being ugly! They were just asking if you had the manual! Remember you came here to ask a question, we don't know if you have the manual or not!

As bowhunter862 said in their post I would say it has something to do with the tape! Maybe try a new tape as well!
