    Default Birding

    How many of y'all like to go birding ?
    Man,every year I help with the birding tour that goes through Tosohatchee. I have to tell y'all 4 years ago, I made fun of birders( they are a different group of folks, kinda like treehuggers,lol)but something happened this past year and I find myself wanting to see more and more birds...I'll be out there for hours trying to see and ID new birds and I get so excited about it, lol. Here are a few pics I have taken...I won't post em all, lol
    Blue-gray Natcatcher

    Mocking bird

    Woodcock

    Anhinga

    Blue Jay

    Mourning dove

    Baby Bald eagles

    Goldfinches

    Vesper sparrow.....almost 100% sure thats what it is.....

    My idea of birding is with with a 12 ga.

    Diana and I like birding. I always have my bird book handy.
    Great pictures Ma. It's been a while since I've seen a Woodcock. Very nice.

    I don't go out looking for birds, but when I hear one I don't recognize, or see one that I don't recognize I run for the binocs and field guide.

    Your last bird does look like a vesper. Some sparrows can be tough. If you remember the song he was singing, compare it to this one:

    love this site you gave me, saved it to my favorites...to tell you the truth, I don't remember the song..... to me , all the lil song birds are difficult to capture pics of...I know the titmouse and bauchman sparrows song but thats about it...this site will come in handy to reference if need be and I know they'll be a need, lol.

    I've never really specifically been birding.... but I do however love to feed the birds and take pictures of them in our backyard. Like you, I get really excited if I see a new one... LOL. People that aren't into it tend to give you a funny look when you start flipping through your bird book as fast as possible trying to find the bird you just spotted with your binoculars.

    Here are a few pics I have taken.... most of which I've posted here before.



    I have a pair of pileated woodpeckers that visit the suet feeders at least once daily, sometimes more often. They are probably in my top 3 favorite birds.



    This little fella hit our sliding glass door last year and I was lucky enough to hold it for 10 minutes or so before it flew away.



    I have lots more, but don't want to hijack your thread any worse than I already have..

    we have 3 hummingbird feeders in our backyard & we love to watch them
    we also have 1 birdseed feeder

    Great pics Ma! I took a few pics of a Red-tailed hawk that was hanging around my gran's place last year. I'll share a few pics, hope you don't mind! He hang around basically the whole summer and fall, friendly one too! He wasn't too shy around us.

    He liked chipmunk hunting in the back yard.

    Some nice pics there. Never really been into birding in the sense of going out and watching and trying to identify, but I do like to identify the birds that we encounter.
