Default A few pics from work.

As some know I have been back to work 8 weeks after being out 7 months. Heavy electrical is my specialty, but the rate is the same for bldg wiring, so I go where the work is. This site is on the west side of Manhattan, 38th and 10th ave with the Hudson river in the background. See the cruise ships in between the bldgs? I am currently working on the 36th floor. There are no windows or partitions on those upper floors yet and it is very windy up there. This bldg will be rental units for MONDO $$$. I'm talking 600sqft apartments for $3000 and better a month! Forget Manhattan... gimme the mountains and red dirt any day. NY is a good place to earn, but not a good place to shoot woodchucks out yer kitchen window. I have some killer Manhattan skyline views at work. Enjoy the pics.

    See the Empire State Bldg?

Very good shots, Anthony. I am going to get a bus ticket and come to the city and take some pictures. No, you can't shoot a groundhog from the kitchen window, but it is a different world in of itself.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

Days go very fast on this job. We are only working 7hrs. 7-2:30pm. There is a lot to do and we keep busy so the day flies, until I stop to take pics. Many cool ships pass by the Hudson here and a few weeks ago, the Obama fly over photo op had guys scrambling as if there was another attack.
BTW, many on this job watched flight 1549 land in the Hudson safely as it was happening.
Pigeons fly into the high floors and look to set up nests, and are smart enough to come around at break time for food scraps. I'd like to bring my slingshot and eradicate a few, they crap all over our material and bird poop is not good to handle.
The ride up the bldg in the Alimak( temp elevator) is a hairy ride. The car has a hydraulic gear motor that climbs teeth on the rails on the side of the bldg with counter weights on cables. You have never been on a elevator ride until you have been on one of these to the roof of a hi rise .

Oh yeah, if anyone ever takes a trip to NYC( don't know why you'd want to come here...but) if any do... give me a shout . I live 40 miles north of the city, and I grew up in the concrete jungle and am prepping for my retirement to the Hill country of Texas...Good Lord willing, 10 more years.

That's really wild Anthony. I couldn't imagine being in that concrete jungle. That's a million miles away from rural central Ohio.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because you were there.

Nice pics..............but I feel for you brother. I spent 15 years working Downtown Chicago and hated EVERY second of it. It took a few years, but now when I look outside at work it looks like this......................
