    Default Who has a D-40 or a M-40?

Looking for any honest reviews on either the Moultrie D 40 or M 40 cameras. Especially if you have had one for some time. What is the good, bad and anything else I should know about them. Is it worth the extra money to get the M 40 or would I be better off just sticking with the bottom of the line D 40? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have the Moultrie I40 and D40. I definitely like the I40 a lot better. Battery life on the I40 is just phenomenal. I left mine out in the freezing Minnesota cold from early November to late February. The D40 is a good camera too. Around 50 to 60 day battery life. I haven't really had any bad experiences with them except the D40 doesn't do too well in the winter cold. They both take great pictures though.

A friend of mine has one, the IR model 40 that he got for Christmas last year. He just got it out of the box last week so I could get it setup. I can't get it to stop taking pictures. As soon as I activate it, it automatically takes a picture every minute as that is the delay we have it set to. I have had many scouting cameras since they came out and have never had one give me problems right out of the box.

We bought 2 Bushnell Trophy Cams this year and love them. Try this website that the Realtree Brethren put me on to. http://www.trailcampro.com/

Check out their reviews and comparisons of various cameras. This should help you decide.

I have a D-40. It takes very poor grainy pics and the flash range isn't very good. Other than that though the camera functions great. Trigger is not exceptional, but plenty fast. Battery life is excellent. It will last at least 2 months(but it uses D cells which cost more). Overall i like the camera for the price. Never had any trouble with it. So if you can live with lower quality pics, by 2 of these instead of an M-40 (don't have any experience with those, so I cant compare) and get twice as many pics.

But my brother-in-law bought one a d-40 this summer (mine I bought last year and could have been previous year model) and its pics are considerably better quality than mine. There still not good, but very decent. So take that as you will.

Do you have your picture setting to Enhanced or High? Another thing that can cause that is not having a memory card in the camera. I'm sure you do though.

I made sure last time i checked it that the pic setting was on high. And yes I always have a memory card in it.
