    Default Broke his G3 already...

Why oh why did the Wide 8 I've been chasing since 2006 go and break off his left G3? Now he's a Wide 7. It's so not fair lol I guess it kind of adds some character though.. He's definitely been rubbing too, check out the bark on his browtines! Do you guys think he broke it off fighting or rubbing? That particular tine had an acorn on it, which may have been a weak spot.

Boy that sucks..... I would say given the opportunity to shoot you had better! As you know he is old and wise so you won't get many chances!
    Good luck Buddy!

That buck is 5 1/2 years old. We have pics of him from when he was a young'un. He has not given many shooting opportunities throughout the years. The last one, he was standing in someones yard at 40 yards. The pass through would have hit the house in the background with the angle Joe was on...so he was given a pass.
I hope one of us at least gets an shot off at that bad boy.
Gonna go heavy on scents and scrapes to lure him this year.
He is the dominant buck around these parts.

That bites! I also say you should let him go one more year. My 10 point has a broken up rack too and it does give them there own charactor. My guy had 8 inches in deductions but I would not trade him for nothing since heis the biggest deer I have killed to date. Here he is:

Hey. That is an awesome deer. Sucks he broke his g3 other wise he would be a shooter. He must really be a fighter though to break it so soon.

I hear ya; I've been watching a nice 10 all summer long. Just checked my camera last weekend and he broke his main beam just past the G3.

Ouch! That would really make me pass on that one. It will let him get more mass for next year. Your deer must really be trying to get ready for rut! They want to work them neck muscles to be the toughest buck in the woods.

That is about of a mature buck as I have ever seen.
He passes by my stand within 40yds...
A bilateral pneumo thorax is in order .
I'd leave his broken beam broken for the mount. The way he was. Besides we have pics of him for the last 4 years.

That stinks Joe, but that dude still is very impressive and would look great on the wall with the missing tine, could always have a taxidermist fix the tine too if you just really wanted it looking like the first pic(you guys have tons of pics to go by). Body on that deer, you can tell he is in his prime right now. He might be a little better next year, but might also get hit by a car up the road, given the opportunity would not hesitate to put him on the wall and in the freezer. Good luck to you and your dad.

I would still put an arrow through him if given the chance. At 5 1/2 years old, that in itself is a trophy.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I would take him then! I want to get pictures of a buck for a few years of watching him grow then take him out. That still is a nice buck but being that old I would stick him too. If he was younger I would let him go for one more year. He is really wide and a nice buck. With my 10 pointer the taxidermist asked if I wanted his broken brow, G3, and main beam on his right side fixed and I said no. That is the way I shot him so that is the way he stays. I agree with you on that.
