Default Time for you to act again. ** HUNTER ALERT **

Here is an email and the correspondance between he and I. I know you folks will not let me down. You know my circumstances. I am asking for your help once again.

Subject: Was recommended to you for help.

I am emailing because Ken Zeringue from a group I belong to, called North American Hunting Club recommended me contacting you about my situation. So here it goes. I am an Unemployed Disabled Veteran. I live in Iowa and so being a disabled veteran they have a Lifetime Hunting and fishing license for anyone that takes a hunting safety course. Which I have taken and so I have this lifetime hunting and fishing license. But because I am Unemployed because of my Service Connected Disabilities, I do not have anything needed to use the hunting part of the lifetime license. Like the clothes, safety gear, like the orange vest or what ever, or more importantly a gun or bow. I have never owned a gun because before I joined the Navy, my mom did not like guns, and so no one in my family had a gun. And for some reason she would not buy me a bow either. So anyway after serving in the Navy for over 11 years, I come home only to find no one will hire me because of my Back problems, and some of my other service connected disabilities, mostly because of the back though. I have been out of the Navy now for all most 8 years.

So anyway being a life member with North American Hunting Club for about 9 or 10 years I thought I would try to see if they could help me. They (North American Hunting Club) recommended I post something on their bulletin board. So I did and this is when Ken Zeringue contacted me and said I should contact you at DHNA, so here I am.

Can you guys help me at all? If so I could really use everything needed to go hunting. About the only thing I have that could be used is an old pair of Flight Deck boots that are all most as good as hiking boots. But as I said, they are old. I have had them since half my tour of duty on my first ship. And that was from 1986-1990. If I remember right I think I got them in 1988 or 1989. But I will greatly appreciate what ever help I can get.

    Sincerely,

    Ronald Lee Ray Jr.

Hello Mr. Ray. I too have back problems. I am recovering from having 6 vertebrates fused and am not doing well at all. Unfortunately I can not help you right now...BUT.. In the interest of getting you gear, I know some folks who can. With your permission I would like to use your email and your address to post this on a couple of MY hunting boards. The guys I hang around with have always stepped up and help out everyone I have asked them to. They are a great bunch of folks and I could ask for no better people to call my extended family. They have helped me keep my head during my time of need and they are always willing to help those who ask.

Let me know. I will post this email for them as soon as I hear back from you.

    Thanks

    God Bless,

    Always a servant.

Norm, I posted part of this on Iowa outdoors and got a pretty good response from his fellow Iowans but I need to find out what he plans on hunting and some clothing sizes. So far over there Ive been offered a crossbow, possibly a shotgun, some turkey hunting gear, and some hunting clothes.Just need to find out if hes interested in turkeys and has a crossbow permit and I can post his address and get the stuff coming

Just checked my other post again, looks like he can take his pick between a compound, a crossbow, or a recurve, Ive had all 3 offered to be donated

Thanks guys. Since HHH helps with medical and funeral costs and he is with the VA, HHH could not help him defer medical expenses to free up funds for hunting so I referred him to DHNA. I was hoping Realree friends would rally. Good job!!!

    Norm,

Let me know if I can help with DHNA!

Man that is awesome....let me know what you don't get that you need and I will see if some of the guys around here can round some stuff up. I know I have lots of stuff I could donate.....most of the clothes are going to our Outdoor Ministry, but let me know.....this is a BIG Ministry in my opinion.

Like I said just let us know what he needs!

    Hey Silvertip,

Ron has been in contact with me and I referred him to DHNA as his request does not fall within our assistance guidelines. I really appreciate you referring Ron to us. HHH mainly assists with financial assistance to offset medical and funeral costs so hunters can get back in the field. DHNA expertise is to assist hunters with disabilities find resources to enable them to overcome obstacles that may prevent then from enjoying hunting in the great outdoors.

    Thanks again for the referral!!!

I just emailed Ron, and told him a lot of people here were offering assistance. I suggested that he join the forum, and let us know exactly what he needs. Hope to see him here soon.

    Ronald,

Right or Left hand bow is determined mostly by which eye is your dominant eye. Although most of the time, it is usually the hand you pull the bow back with, which is usually the hand you throw and write with. This can be tested a variety of different ways.

Try holding a pen out in front of you, closing one eye and trying to put the cap on the pen with the one eye. Then do the same thing with the other eye. Whichever you feel comfortable with or whichever one you did better with is then considered your dominant eye.

But that test doesn't always work. There are other ways. That's just one.
