Anybody here have a prosthetic limb? I was wondering because they are thinking of taking my foot so I'd be out of pain and I was wondering how difficult if any it was to hunt with one?

i don't have any prosthesis's myself, but i have hunted with a bunch who did. most could walk about 20% of what the used to walk. poor fits and blisters were a constant problem.
Hmmmmm I was hoping that with the advances in technology that they might have come up with something better and not as hurtful or well you know what I mean.

yea, i can associate with what you mean. technology is so good now, you may be bionic man before you know it. i hope that they are able to save your foot
Cinch, I posted this on another site a few months back. It may not help but I do hope all is well with you and good luck.
My best friend lost his right arm(right handed) above the elbow in 81. After he went through the depression of losing the arm, he figured he may as well let life continue. To this day he welds,does carpentry work, electrical, a great mechanic, gunsmithing, professional photographer. He seems to do more with that one arm the most folks can do with two. He also was trained in Olymic Skeet and has almost 500,000 registered rounds fired. We just finished building a 14ft duckboat together.[/FONT][/SIZE]
[SIZE=2][FONT=Arial]He designed an attachment for his arm that he connects to his prostetic so he can drive his 5 speed car. Also designed a cradle(for lack of a better word)that he uses for shooting. He shoots IPSC and does long range shooting.[/FONT][/SIZE]
[SIZE=2][FONT=Arial]I could keep on going as nothing seems stop him, he just looks at the problem from a diff view. Two years ago he even traded out a clutch plate in his car by himself with few power tools plus he did it on the street![/FONT][/SIZE]

My dad has both of his legs taken off above the knees.He has two prosthetic legs,he hunted with them for a while and had no problem then he just stopped wearing them and now hunts from his atv.If its just your foot you may be loseing you should be able to do anything you do now,todays procedures are amazeing and people do things that you wouldnt even dream they could do.Wish you luck and whatever happens,keep yourself in good spirits.
I hope to stay in good spirits! I have colors that I want on mine if I ever get the money saved up to have it. Besides lol if anyone gives me any grief, I can always take my foot off and beat them with it. lol.

I really hate to hear that. I have a good friend that is a pipe fitter. He got screwed around by some local docs with a malignant tumor in his calf. They finally took his leg off above the knee. He has some problems with it, but keeps on working. Much better than a lot of ppl i know that draw disability even though they apparently can still do carpentry work all day or even hang shingles. I have helped out Wheelin Sportsman program by guiding some of the hunters. I'll tell you what, anything is possible, because i saw a parapalegic (sp?) that could shoot a .243 mounted on a football helmet by blowing on a tube that worked the trigger. That guy could drive tacks at 50 yards. Dont loose faith, life goes on and is ultimately what you make of it. I pray they dont have to take your foot, but we do live in an age where you have so many more choices than we did just a few years ago.

There is a black guy that lives on the road going to my hunting clubs. He has one leg and doesnt use a prosthetic leg.(Cant afford one). The other day he was splitting fire wood with a maul and wedge in his front yard. He also will kill a couple deer every year for food.(Very poor man) He drags the deer back to his house. This man is a go-getter.

I go to see a specialist about my ankle on the 17th so keep your fingers crossed. Also, when I went to my doctor to get a referral, he told me not to worry about my good knee right now (it popped and is painful and has fluid buildup under the kneecap) He said that the strain put on the knee from all these years has probably tore something in my good knee but to get my ankle fixed first then we will take measures on my knee.
