W. Mark Felt - Deep Throat - Hero or Criminal?

So he finally 'fessed up to being the leak to Bob Woodward for the Washington Post articles.

My question is this:
Should he be considered a hero for exposing a government cover up?
Or should he be considered a criminal for anonymously leaking information from an ongoing FBI criminal investigation to the press?

I have my opinions which I'll share later.

criminal and a coward. Even linda Tripp revealed her identity. Nixon was no saint, but Felt went about it all wrong and now his family wants to ca$h in.

leaking from within the FBI is a criminal offense.....in a way, Im glad someone blew the whistle though

Watergate pre-dates my presence on earth, but I'll give it a shot...lol

I'd have to go with criminal on this.

If he only leaked to the press about Watergate because he feared retribution for going to authorities, that would be a mitigating circumstance. However, considering before Watergate, he was leaking things to Bob Woodward definitely makes me feel he is a criminal.

He only came forward because he wants money. That's a shocker...NOT...lol.
