Tom Cruise is a Freak!

I'll start by saying that I think I've seen every movie that he has ever done. I think he is a great actor, but the man has some serious issues. I saw an interview with him, I think on MSNBC, and they even said he was over the edge. He was telling people not to listen to thier doctors and stop takeing their meds. and start excercising and taking vitamins. Don't get me wrong I think those are good things to do, but if people like Susan Smith had been on the right drugs their would probibly be a lot less mothers in prison for killing thier own kids.

I don't know if that has anything to do with the scientology thing or not, but if that's the stuff that their teaching, that's one more reason to stay away from it.

Some people believe that medical doctors prescribe medicines that mask the problems rather than fixing them. Antibiotics are overprescribed and there is a problem with them not being as effective. Got a neighbor who is a chiropractor and he claims that md's are killing people with drugs. His explanation while it did make some sense I just dont agree with. Some times the human body does need a little help.

I think Cruise may be onto something.They prescribe antibiotics for everything.After awhile they lose thier effectiveness on you and then when you really need em they dont work.I see parents that are getting thier "hyperactive" kids on ridilin{sp?} and other drugs to calm them down and theyre using the drugs as a babysitter almost.While some kids may need it I gaurantee you I could take any of mine to the doctors office right now and convince them my kids have ADD and theyd give em a prescription based on whatever I told them.Drugs seem to be the answer to everything in this country with a large majority of the people when all they need to do is get off the couch, shut the TV off, and go outside.Drugs have thier place but they shouldnt be a quick fix for unhealthy living.

I've read a few articles where the healthiest people are the ones who experience viruses, etc. Your body will build a defense to alot of things when it's confronted with it first. Just like people in 3rd worlds do not get sick to some waters, but if we drank it, we'd get really sick. Again, nature has a cycle. We just need to pay attention.

I've been teaching for 13 years now and couldn't tell you how many kids I've had on meds. (probibly hundreds) I can honestly say that in those years I could see a marked difference in 4 kids. The rest really just needed an attitude adjustment. The 3 that it really worked on were very nice well behaved students who I honestly didn't know were ADD untill their parents told me.

My daughter was diagnosed ADD by her doctor and we had her on meds. for 3 months. Her teachers said that she seemed to pay attention better, stay on task more, but her grades didn't improved. She did start having simi-violent outburst while on the medication at school and at home. She is generally a very sweat and never violent girl. We didn't feel like it was helping the way we wanted it to and the side affects greatly outweighed the benifits, so we took her off.

My point. My kid is a bit of a spaz who doesn't pay attention in class sometimes. But medication was not the answer. But there are rare occations where it is.

I'm not saying that nothing Cruise said had merit. I guess you had to see it. He was acting like a cocker spanial on crack, telling people not to listen to doctors, and that's a little crazy.

I seen him in an interview a week or so ago about his engagement and he seemed kinda weird just talking about that.i think hes got a valid point but he may have taken it to far I guesse is what Im saying.

Did you ever read what the side effects of these drugs are??? In most cases, thats worse than what they are suppose to cure!! I agree with Horst's first post......by the way. what did you expect from Tom Cruise...??? He is "Rosey's" favorite actor...but thats another topic

It sounds to me like Tom Cruise is telling people to say "no" to all medications. Yes, we are a society that is overly dependant on unnecessary treatments and prescriptions. However, this does and should not render invalid the importance of medicines.

I agree...half the kids on Ritalin DON'T need it. Like horst said, they need to be pulled away from the TV and sent outside to run around. Kids should never be given caffeine and sugar intake should be limited as well.

What else would Tom Cruise have us not do? Brush our teeth? Vaccinate against polio and tetanus? Tell women not to get mammograms or men not to get their prostate checked? That's nuts and I really hope that people who watched it are smart enough to NOT listen to him.

Tom Cruise is a scientologist. Enough said.
That is what they "preach" And while some of what he said MAY be true...this is a guy who ALSO believes we come from aliens.
My son has ADD. I can tell you from experience it ( Ritalin) has made all the difference in his attention span and most definitely in his grades.
