Party Lines...

I'm just wondering how many people in here vote strictly by party lines. Since there seems to be an overwhelming number of conservatives in this forum, which I have no problem with, I wanted to know if you voted just Republican because they tend to be the conservative. I wont say there arent agendas on each side of the coin, but it sounds like mass hysteria in here that when/if the Democrats get control that we are all losing our guns, we're gonna shake with fear and hide in our country because we wont have the leadership to stand up for ourselves, and gays will rule the universe. That gays thing was an exaggeration. Anyways. My personal belief is that in this day and age, it is not possible to align oneself with a party and whole heartedly support that party and all of it's representatives. Personally, I dont see much difference between the Republicans and Democrats. They all campaign very similarly to try and appeal to as many voters as possible. The all know the key issues and all try to take the most beneficial stance on those issues. I wont say that I dont lean one way or the other, but that I will forever refer to myself as an Political Independent. I wont vote party lines, I'll vote the lesser of the evils.

For what its worth I do not vote party lines, but more so vote the candidates that I feel better support my best interests. Those candidates are most often republicans. There I guess I did say it, I lean towards republicans.

Dont think anyone is saying those things you are mentioning will happen overnight, but they are most certainly priorities within the democratic party, and things that they will try to accomplish if we let them. First thing that will happen, if they gain control is that they will repeal the Bush tax cuts. They (democratic candidates) have said so themselves.

I jump all over the place!

We have 2 people who are running for the state senate for this area and neither one of them are worth 2 cents!! No other candidate is running! Bad situation there!!

This time around is really bad for most of the people who are running! We need some new blood to run!!!

I usually vote fiscal conservative and moderate on social issues! That means I don't go along with the far left or the far right on most issues!

Locally party lines don't matter to me, I vote for the person who is best qualified for the job. Nationally, I normally vote for the party that best represents my moral views.

That's why I am now an Independent. I don't subscibe to one particular set of values, I prefer to make my own choice. I have never voted a straight party ticket, and probably never will.

That was me........until this year. The one democrat that I used to feel confident in giving my vote started to act like all the rest of them. This Nov. will be my first straight party-line ticket. Thanks for running your big, stupid, traitorous mouth, John Murtha.

I always vote for the most conservative candidate.

I always vote Republican because every race I've voted in has been a liberal Democrat versus a more conservative Republican.

There are three exceptions:

I voted for Perot in 1996--give me a break, it was my first election, but at least I didn't vote for Clinton...LOL.

I voted for Democrat Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke when I still lived in Milwaukee. (There were no Republicans running against him. Not only that, but Clarke would probably be a Republican if he could get elected as one. Clarke is an African American and reminds me very much of former OK Congressman J.C. Watts--one that is not afraid to talk about PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. Personal responsibility isn't really a theme in the bad areas of Milwaukee. He's a true leader--unlike your Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons. I even heard him speak at a support the troops rally shortly after we invaded Iraq. Though open to anyone who wanted to speak, he was the ONLY Democrat to show up.

The final exceptions are in non-partisan races such as school board or city council. (Though you can sometimes figure out the party affiliation in school board races--I usually vote for the spending cutter, anti-teacher union candidate).

Other that Clarke, I've never had a reason to vote for the Democrat in any race and I don't plan to.

My party affiliation is Republican, though I'm very much like a Libertarian on many issues. And the more the GOP pumps into social programs, the more Libertarian I become. With the Democrats, I will never vote for someone who wants to raise my taxes, weaken the military, give free health care to those too lazy to work, go after companies for damaging the government--when the government exempts itself from these regulations. I also think we should PROSECUTE those who run free needles to drug addicts programs for posession and distribution of drug paraphernalia.

Before I jump back into my rant, I'm just going to answer the question. With the exception of Clarke, i have NEVER voted for a Democrat---and never plan too unless the party itself drifts back toward the center and away from the MoveOn.org/Howard Dean/Russ Feingold/Nancy Pelosi way of thinking.
