    Talking Job Search

Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN ) for 6am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA ) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG ). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA ), designer jeans ( MADE IN SINGAPORE ) ! and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA ). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA ) he sat down with his calculator ( MADE IN MEXICO ) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN ) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA ) he got in his car ( MADE IN GERMANY ) filled it with GAS (from Saudi Arabia) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN job. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his Computer (Made In Malaysia ), Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals ( MADE IN BRAZIL ) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE ) and turned on his TV ( MADE IN INDONESIA ), and then set their wondering why he couldn’t find a good paying job in AMERICA

Yeah but a job where you can support a family is hard to come by. It's the elitist attitude that of "Hey, I've got a job and had it for years so it's easy for anybody to find one!" doesn't work for everybody. I had a job for 4 years when it was contracted out and I had no choice but to go to the contract company until I found something better. I not only lost $4 an hour but I lost benefits, vacation and sick time yet I was still doing the exact same job. Then when you try to ask for what you were promised as far as hours and such, they fire you. Yeah, I should have gone to college but that's not so easy when you have a 15 month old child and one income. I'm not trying for sympathy but it's not so easy when you live in rural America and a community where the nearest jobs are 20 miles one way and yet you have to work out both schedules to where somebody is with your child at all times.
