Default McCain vs. the 2nd ammendment

just thought some of you might like to see what your getting in McCain............more to follow.

February 1, 2008, 4:49 AM MCCAIN ATTACKS GUN OWNERS! -

McCain "sponsored the McCain/Lieberman gun show bill, which would have given the federal government the administrative power to prohibit all gun shows, and to register everyone who attends a gun show."

-- Dave Kopel: 2d Amt Project ( great info here. The NRA gives McCain a C. Gunowners of America give him an F.)

    ALSO:

Supported anti-gun Schumer amendment: Sen McCain voted for an amendment offered by the anti-gun Sen. Charles Schumer of New York that would have restricted the legitimate transfer of firearms over the internet. (Source: Congressional Record 5/14/99, p. S5327.)

Voted to expand The Brady Law: McCain voted to extend the restrictions of the Brady bill to pawn shops and gun repair shops.(Source: Congressional Record 5/20/99, p.S5642.)

Supported Clinton Gun Control: John McCain voted AGAINST efforts to kill the Clinton gun control package, which contained al kinds of new gun restrictions, including a ban on many kinds of private gun sales. (Source: Congressional Record 7/28/99, P. S9451.)

    -- Gunowners of America

    L I B E R A L........... and don't try and tell me he's better than Clinton or O'Bama............HE'S NOT.

    I understand that completely!

The only thing is that all the stuff he did in the past, never saw the light of day! None of it was passed or signed!

Now the big problem is that if Hillary of Obama are elected along with the democrats in control of the house and senate, they will pass all sorts of good things! I have my doubts if McCain will be "liberal" enough to go along with congress! You never know for sure though!

OJR, does the media have you thinking inside the box too?

I am with Jil7913 on this one. I would never vote for McCain. I'd rather vote for Hillary than him. I mean I hate to say that because I am far from being a democrat but if it comes down to him and her, you betcha I am voting for Hillary. Some of you need to get past the media and chain emails and look at the truth behind some of these canidates. Hillary is not going to take our guns from us. She might take them from those who shouldn't have them but that's a good thing, right? She is against assult rifles. Good, so am I. Who outside the military or law enforcement or something similiar to that needs an assult rifle? She is for tougher laws to buy hand guns. Good, many who buy them shouldn't have them anyway. If your an innocent person, they you have nothing to worry about. Wait the time and if you're legit, you get your handgun. She is not against guns. So what if she likes queers and abortions. It affects me none. I don't have to like it. But her intelligence and take on foreign policy much surpasses McCain. I trust her with foreign policy much more than him. It does not matter if he was a POW or not or served in the military. She for the most part supports tougher immigration laws like Bush does. She has a good take on Social Security. That's the kind of stuff that means a lot to me. All that other crap I could care less about. If people are going to vote for McCain just because they don't like Hillary or her Husband, this country is voting for the wrong reason. Just like many black people are voting for Osama. Many are doing that because he is black or something like that. But again, many are voting for the wrong reason.

America does not need McCain. If you want to vote him in then Bush may as well stay for another term. Just my honest opinion that I am entitled too

I would love for someone to reply to this post in their own words and tell me intelligently why I should vote for McCain. Maybe there is something I am not seeing. And don't say well because he was in the Military or because he has a firm stance on "one" issue out of 20. I would love to see at least 8 issues that you find McCain to be more firm on than Hillary that would benifit you and me.

I'm not a McCain fan...but there is no way that "any" conservative can say they will vote for one of the other two evils over McCain!

I will not vote in a "socialist" leader....McCain has my vote if he gets the nomination!

Define what is an "assult" rifle and why shouldn't I (in your opinion) be allowed to own one for pleasure or just to have?

Tell me what law would make it tougher (than it is now) for a criminal to purchase a handgun? All the "laws" in the world won't stop criminals from having illegal guns...but it will drive up the cost for those who want to buy the gun legally!

    OJR,
Why would you expect him to do anything different than what he's done most of his career as a Senator??? He's been on the wrong side of the aisle many times over, what would make you think he'd change if he were the President???

But I'll have to disagree with TreeSBH, I could NOT EVER bring myself to vote for HILLARY, because I have ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT FOR HER!!!

I'll buy a round on that, how many crimes are committed with a gun that was registered to the person committing the crime with it????

Don't know, ask the government what they define as an assult rifle, I am not the one who came up with it. But if I had to guess, an assult rifle would be something possibly as a fully automatic military rifle that is shot from the shoulder with a certain amount of range to it. Why shouldn't you own one? Why would you? Blame it on the knuckleheads that screwed it up in the past for you. Do you know how many assult rifles are on the street? We have enough guns on the street let alone assult rifles. But again, please don't confuse what I am saying. I am not against them I am just saying that if they want to outlaw them, I don't care because I would never use one outside of the Military so it affects me none. I have hunting rifles used for hunting and target practice and that's all I'll ever have and she isin't after that. Again, I am more concerned with the bigger issues that face America like immigration, Social Security, Foreign Affairs, Drugs, etc. Those are the important issues to me.

Of course, you're right, you will never clean the streets of guns. But I am quite sure that since we have had tougher gun laws, there are less guns on the streets. You will never clean up all of them, but you can make it harder. So what if you have to wait a certain amount of days to take your new gun home. Why be in such a hurry? You waited this long to buy a gun, what's another X amount of days. That's probably how they see it too. People who come in to buy guns in a hurry are pretty scary to some folks

I mean come on, we could say the same thing for drugs. If people want drugs bad enough, they will find a way to get them. But does that mean that we just stop fighting the war on drugs?

But please, again, I am not against assult weapons. If you want to have one, that's fine with me. I am just saying that if they want to outlaw them, I really don't care because it doesn't affect me. I am more concerned with bigger issues like I mentioned earlier.

What it all boils down to right there. Better think long and hard about voting in the true liberals over one that has voted liberally on some issues.

Mike Hillary and Obama both would be happy to see all guns taken away from law abiding gun owners. They will not stop with assault rifles, and the liberals if they get their way, will hand this country over to the UN.

I consider myself 97% Conservative and I'm voting Democrat no matter who the candidate is...........here's why.

    John McCain is a putz.

He's the Jimmy Carter of the new Millenium. Remember Jimmy Carter, ex-Navy officer--call himself a Moderate turned into a flaming Liberal--military guy who let the rest of the world piss all over the USA--- Grain Embargo on the USSR that DESTROYED the US economy---Iran Hostage Crisis.

Remember this guy.........he and McCain were seperated at birth. Their past histories are too similar to think any different.

Good News.........The Malay that was caused by Carter and his Liberal.... (used to be Moderate).... thinking, gave strength to the Republicans and especially the Conservatives..........along comes Ron Reagan ( God Bless Him) and the Usa thrives for 8 years. Reagans biggest mistake was dragging along Bush41......another Moderate who quickly ended the Republican occupation of the Presidency.

    Where's this all going...............

I'm not willing to vote GOP this fall and put the 'new' Jimmy Carter in office. I'd rather a Full-Blown-Liberal was in the White House. Why?????????

4 years of **** in order to make the country strong.

The GOP needs a wakeup call and the time is now. They cannot be asking us to give up our values and principals in order for them to keep their jobs. They cannot be force feeding us candidates who are Liberals disguised as Moderates who forget that the Party is based on Conservatism.

Let the Democrats have FULL control of Washington. They've done nothing with their control on the Congress, and it hasn't been because of Bush43, it's been because the PEOPLE have stepped up and been heard and they listened.

4 years of **** will open up the eyes of the people, and give strength to Conservative Values once again. By then we'll have the People in place to take control.............

    Bobby Jindal..........Gov. of Louisianna.

    Mitt Romney...........

    Jim Marshall............

    Pete Coors..............

They're out there and ready, just not right now.

Sometimes you have to take a step backwards in order to make progress.

When your on the edge of a cliff..........a step forward is not progress.

Can you show me where Hillary says that besides something that has spin to it? That's interesting. I doubt they care about the little people like you and me who have guns to hunt with. I think we are on two different levels here.

fact is, we're in big trouble this year. it's a lose/lose for the constitution.

mike, hillary has a very clear record of anti gun. go to the nra web site for details. then, maybe go to andrea's post above on what the military thinks of hillary.

We have more to worry about than gun control.Bonnie and Clyde(AKA BIll and Hillary)want socialized health care,How are they going to pay for it?Raise taxes,Cut the military budget and rob social security and make the health care system a bigger mess than it already is.

I'd like to see the welfare system reformed,I get tired of seeing people perfectly capable of working hanging out on the street corner drinking cheap liquor from a brown paper bag and getting free food, housing and health care at our expense.

Instead of making new laws everytime something happens how about enforcing the ones already on the books? The list of problems goes on and both parties are to blame and and having Bonnie Clinton raise my taxes is reason enough not to vote for her.

Do the research for yourself Mike, if you think I am spinning something. I can tell you that Hillary and Obama are from states that have tighter gun control than most states in this country, but you need to look up that information for yourself and see how they have voted.

Other good points, Clinton cut the military deep, leaving us with a smaller and weaker defense, will be more of the same under either liberal. Another good point on welfare and taxes, want to kiss your money that Bush got you back good bye plus quite a bit more in the way of raised taxes, go on and vote for Obama or Clinton.

Hard to tell if Jim(jjl) is truly serious or being sarcastic. The idea that letting a liberal lead the country into the toilet, so that it will likely lead way to sure conservative win 4 years might very well come true, but the next 4 years what they can do to this country may be irreparable and at this very point in time there is too much at stake.

Dont count Huckabee out just yet...Hillary-Obama-McCain..not what this country needs right now..we need to be putting Christians in office
