I signed it a couple of weeks ago. Good idea to put pressure on Congress every way that we can.

And I'm sick and tired of hearing the argument that even if we start looking for more oil today, it won't be available for 4, 5, or even 8 years. Bull hockey! Ever hear of Brutus? It's an oil platform that sits 165 miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. At peak capacity Brutus produces 300,000 barrels of oil a day.

Shell decided in 1999 that they would put a platform on the spot where Brutus now stands. The company then built the massive oil platform, transported it to the right location in the gulf, anchored the floating leviathan onto the seafloor 3,000 feet below, drilled 17,000 feet below that, and began producing oil in July 2001. It took only two years to get Brutus online.

And we only need a couple more "Brutus's" to make a difference in oil prices. Says who? Why none other than Chuckie Schumar, senior Democrat Senator from New York. Just last Wednesday on the floor of the Senate he said “If they [Saudi Arabia] produced half a million barrels more oil a day the price would come down a very significant amount and, at the same time, it would stop the speculation that keeps driving up the price of oil.”

Well heck, why get the Saudi's to do it when we can do it ourselves?

the obvious fact in that since bush took off the presidential ban on offshore drilling on tuesday, gas has plummeted 10 bucks a barrel in just 2 days. now, if our do nothing congress would act the same, it would go down another 30 to 50 bucks a barrel in a week. that will dispel the liberal b.s. about taking 10 years. just make the announcement, and gas will go to where it was 6 months ago.

Heard that Nancy Pelosi or whatever you want to call her say again that drilling wont take affect for 10 years and that for real change we needed to take 10 percent of our oil reserves to make prices go down now ?????????????????

Is she really that stupid, sacrifice the future for a 5 cent decrease now, man are we the only Americans that arent bottle fed?

The EPA is the big reason that we cant drill here in the U.S. Alot of this is their fault. It also makes me mad that we pump millions of gallons of oil out of Alaska and sell it to Japan. We need it right HERE. But the oil companies are greedy and they know they can make more money selling it elsewhere.

Actually, that rumor about Alaskan oil all going to Japan is false. In fact, it's just the opposite. Since about 2000, there has been no U.S. oil exports to Japan, and very little to any other country.

Texan is correct. Don't usually rely on snopes, but believe this information here is accurate, check out this link http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/alaskaoil.asp

Is that because you believe the price of oil should remain at current levels, or because you favor the transfer of billions of dollars annually from the U.S. economy over to the various Middle Eastern economies?
